    even for a guy paddling an axiom this video is gold for learning to surf surfing an axiom may be easy compared to most but most other videos dont have the stepp with lifting your knees so you end up missing the wave even if you do everything else perfect

    The standing wave videos I’ve found on YouTube always seem to show what appears to be an experienced kayaker on waves that are too much for a newbie. What I have not seen yet is how someone approaches the wave and what happens when he loses it. I can imagine that the kayaker approaches the wave from upstream (while pointed away from it or toward it ready to spin 180 degrees quickly when right in front of the wave) and someone losing the wave gets swept downstream quickly. It makes me wonder how he gets back. Thus, I would be interested in seeing how the above is done or at least read a short description of that.
