Planning a fall 2020 visit to Yellowstone if we can get the RV we recently purchased renovated by then. Plan to blog under Open Skies. Thanks for sharing the great video!

I heard Yellowstone opened on May 18th 2020. Taking a crew cab truck and a four wheel camper in June. I hope it’s going to be fun especially after all this Coronavirus drama

Great tips on Yellowstone! One thing folks might want to check out is a wonderful RV park called Red Rock RV Park. It is 20 minutes from West Yellowstone near Henry’s Lake, Idaho. A beautiful, well-run park with full hook-ups. We have stayed there for a month 5 years in a row. We like to fish, and there is great fishing all over that area. We usually take several days to drive to Yellowstone and back, each time taking a different route. A favorite day-long drive is to go from there south through Idaho along the west side of the Tetons, loop down through Jackson Hole, and back through Yellowstone and back to our RV. Don’t underestimate distances. The park is massive. You can’t cover it all in one day unless you’re insane.

    Good info. Terrible music.

  11. Douglas Leon on April 26, 2021 at 9:34 pm

If you’re camped in Madison campground, West Yellowstone is only 14.4 miles away. We drove down for pizza back in 1992.

  14. Bill Sprague on April 26, 2021 at 9:35 pm

Great advice. We’ve been there at least a half dozen times and Yellowstone never fails to amaze me. We’ve had snow on July 4th! Size does matter! The park is huge and the campsites are small. Watch the overhead too, because vents are vulnerable, just a random comment….. 😉

Thank you for including the information about wheelchair access. Very few bloggers or videos even think about it. My daughter is in a wheelchair so I am always looking for places we can visit.

  19. Karl Graf on April 26, 2021 at 9:38 pm

I heard that in Yellowstone you can’t make reservations. Is that true?

  20. Jerry Sharp on April 26, 2021 at 9:39 pm

Loved it all, but was WOWed at 25:50; the throw on that lense is amazing. Great shot in another great video. Probably my tenth time to watch this, and wonder whether we could find three weeks to visit Teton and Yellowstone, from Va. 1 week to get there, 1 wk there and dash home the third. Gotta be worth it.
    Thx again b

Great video. Yellowstone the most beautiful place in the. U.S. to me. The young red bison is a red flag. One Bison ranch owner showed me some of his bison. He raised a female bison from birth. He even bottled feed it . He showed me a red young bison. He said, when they are red the mother will kill you if get close to it. Even the mature one he bottle fed. They are very protective of the young red one.

  26. Martin Parmer on April 26, 2021 at 9:45 pm

There are honestly so few reservable campsites in yellowstone, the only way I see to visit is to head that way and see if you can find a first come first serve site. I’m just not too comfortable with that. Sure wish it were different. I’d wind up on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night with my luck.

  27. Sculpture Silverman on April 26, 2021 at 9:48 pm

Wow, you were at Castle Geyser in 1991? That’s a 11 years before I was born…. Wow!!!! I hope Castle Geyser is still beautiful when I go there once the CoronaVirus lock down is over…

  28. gman77gas on April 26, 2021 at 9:50 pm

Excellent vids. We plan on driving the west next year when my wife retires. Which brings me to my question. Being both in early 60’s (ok shape to walk 2 miles) and are flexible on times and dates. What time of year would be great. We are not RVing or camping. We would like to stay at the lodges and are not concerned about the costs….thanks in advance..oh ya, we where there in 1983 when we where first married and had little money…

  29. JoJo InRancho on April 26, 2021 at 9:51 pm

We took an RV trip from So California to Yellowstone and Grant Teton last August. It was wonderful! Would love to do it again. Next time we need more time in the parks. Like you said, Yellowstone is huge! Thanks for posting.

  30. meltdownman on April 26, 2021 at 9:51 pm

Any tips on where to park at Grand Canyon Falls? Can you use say an electric bike to get from one place to another safely without getting run over? With regards to travel during certain times of the year…is there much in the way of leaves changing color or is it mostly all pine?

  31. Go Gr on April 26, 2021 at 9:52 pm

Wonderful video, thank you! Saved and subbed

  32. Sculpture Silverman on April 26, 2021 at 9:52 pm

Show the video of how you guys maneuver your RV from that camp site where you got stuck…. It’s hard to visualize without video…

  33. exRhodie on April 26, 2021 at 9:57 pm

Excellent video, as always, thanks. It may not have been available when you did this, but you can now get a Gypsy App on Yellowstone that is amazing. It uses your smartphone’s GPS and tells you what to look out for as you drive. Last time we were there we used it and saw several things we’d missed on previous visits. Just an FYI! Keep up the great work.

  34. Scot G on April 26, 2021 at 9:58 pm

Hi guys…. Question here? How long did you stay traveling here ?…. Me and jerri are looking to make this trip in the future..So glad to have met you all the other night at Goat island…

How are the roads in Yellowstone in August can you pull a 37 foot fifth wheel. Like from the east entrance to the south entrance

  38. SeaVerity One on April 26, 2021 at 9:59 pm

Hey, great video. We are planning a trip for July if the park reopens. Going to take your advice and stay in two campgrounds, one in the north and one in the south. We have an AS Classic that is 33’. Suggestions on which north campground and which south campground we can squeeze into?

  39. Lisanne on April 26, 2021 at 10:00 pm

Thank ya’ll so much for your down to earth, honest approach. Love your videos! I am disabled and cannot travel like I use to and I can travel vicariously through you two! hehe I too am an Alabamian. 🙂

  41. TheBruceGday on April 26, 2021 at 10:03 pm

I live in Wyoming and just bought a 29’ (including tongue) travel trailer. Do you have suggestions for how to score a good spot in the non-reservation campgrounds? Do you stay at a commercial campground outside the park and try to swoop in early to get a spot or..?

  42. David S on April 26, 2021 at 10:04 pm

Can you ride a motorcycle in this area or is it too dangerous due to the animals possibly charging you?

  43. Anthony Vickers on April 26, 2021 at 10:06 pm

You both have interesting narrator voices. I was engrossed, Great job.

Yellowstone is one of our favorite National parks. We have visited there about five times, generally in mid May with a week stop in Grand Teton first. Our first visit we camped in West Yellowstone. Other years we camped at Mamoth Hot Springs since it was closer to Lamar Valley where we could view the Wolfs and get into Cody to have a great steak dinner at the Proud cut restaurant and also tour the large gun museum.

Went to Yellowstone many years ago and my husband and I couldn’t believe the size of it! The lakes were huge! Also my girls and I were afraid that when we stopped to use the restroom, a bison was going to charge us. That was probably because a Asian tourist was trying to put their child on a bison for a photo!!!

  50. Anthony Vickers on April 26, 2021 at 10:14 pm

    Are the Bison Purring.?
