  9. Nverinder716 on March 9, 2021 at 11:47 pm

Brian, thank you so much for putting up this instructive series of videos. I literally just bought my first fly rod combo yesterday, after reviewing your videos a few months ago, and re-watching them all again last night, while taking notes! This is an absolutely invaluable series for the beginner fly fisherman. I feel like I have much more confidence in everything that I’m doing after watching these videos, and I cannot wait to get back out on the water here in the Shenandoah Valley! Thank you so much, hopefully one day I’ll make the drive to Ohio and see your shop in person!

You forgot to mention that you need a minimum of level 20 fishing.

  15. Victor Cross on March 9, 2021 at 11:53 pm

Is a person too old to start fly fishing at age 60? Don’t hesitate to be honest.

  16. Sean B on March 9, 2021 at 11:53 pm

Hey Brian and team. Great video series, it has been astoundingly helpful to me, a guy who just bought a fly fishing set up on a whim. I’m learning a lot and so excited to finish the series and put it all to use. Very well made, very high quality education! Thank you so much!

  19. fatcapital88 on March 9, 2021 at 11:55 pm

"you need some water, and it’d be awesome if there was some fish in that water, it’ll help you out a bunch"… Hilarious dry humor

  20. April Dawson on March 9, 2021 at 11:55 pm

I’ve been fishing for about 30 years. Just finally bought my first fly rod last summer. Haven’t gotten the chance to use it yet besides some casting practice in my back yard. But I’ve loved watching all your videos. Everything is explained very clearly. I feel like I’m fully prepared to get started. Love the channel.

  21. James Karastamatis on March 9, 2021 at 11:57 pm

THis might be one the best instructional videos on fishing ever…the humor is key

  23. Jeremy Scott on March 9, 2021 at 11:57 pm

You need some water, preferably with fish in it. The sarcasm was amazing lololol

  24. Chris Rod on March 10, 2021 at 12:00 am

Why is the handle of the reel so small?

  25. Spart T on March 10, 2021 at 12:05 am

Can I ask about rod selection you spoke. At the moment I’m spinning but really want to try fly. You mentioned that for beginner ideal rod is 9ft 6-8wt. Just wondering would I be able to fish in a loch wit 9ft rod? Or do I need longer rod if fishing from bank to be able to cast far? In my fishing club there is a good loch with trouts, also few rivers with trouts and salmon. Just wondering what should be my choice? Thanks

  26. Brian Kendzior on March 10, 2021 at 12:05 am

Minor annoyance, but the "Getting Started in Fly Fishing" playlist is ordered backwards. Thanks for the videos guys!

I’m new to fly fishing. Your fly fishing video series has/is very helpful. Could you suggest a entry level rod/reel combo, either something you put together or a pre-packaged outfit. THANKS!

Right now I’ve got a parking lot covered in snow, does that count as water?

  41. Brady Robinson on March 10, 2021 at 12:27 am

  42. noobie1890 on March 10, 2021 at 12:27 am

I remember my dad mentioned he wanted to go fly fishing at one point, but since he’s passed, I’ve really considered going upstate NY (another thing he wanted to again) so I think I’ll be heading up there sometime soon. Try out some trout fishing with a fly-fishing rod or something.

I had a nice older lady today give me an awesome fly fishing pole. He seemed to have a very sweet soul and I had expressed interest in learning how to fly fish and she told me her husband passed and gave me one of his fishing poles. I feel blessed and would love to learn. God bless
