Kayaking Antelope Canyon: Lake Powell AZ

Kayaking Antelope Canyon: Lake Powell AZ

In this episode, we hook up with Craig Little from Lake Powell Adventure Company for a paddle at the iconic Antelope Canyon in Page, AZ. Antelope Canyon is one of the hundreds of side canyons that make up Lake Powell’s unique shoreline. What makes it so special is the easy access for kayakers. The paddle from Antelope Point Marina to the mouth of Antelope Canyon is only about 1 mile. The paddle up the canyon is around 1.5 miles. From there you can hike up into the narrow slot canyon and enter into another world. A world shaped by water and erosion. A magical display of color and texture that can only be fully appreciated by seeing with your own eyes.

If you’re interested in joining a tour hit up Lake Powell Adventure Company and tell them Dan sent you!

PLEASE!! When was this?!? We’ve been wanting to go for months, but the Reserve website says they (and thus the Canyon) are still closed!

Taking the family to Lake Powell first week of April. Can I rent kayaks there or bring my own?

  14. Hogtown1986 on July 21, 2021 at 9:04 pm

Ummmm, rain + slot canyon = a potentially REALLY bad day. And you’re not in an area with any possibility of rescue before the flash flood hits you.

Yup. native arizonian here. Phoenix has turned in to a dump but the surrounding nature that hasn’t been infested by people is still amazing.

May kayak antelope this weekend. Never kayaked before. I’m concerned about waves caused by cruising boats. What point would you recommend we start to avoid major
watercraft ? Also, do you know where we could rent paddle boats? THANK YOU

just wondering when you did this? Is the boat launch still open? I saw that the navajo parks are closed and it’s my understanding that the antelope point boat launch is in that park? Am I wrong here? Just wondering if I could take my kayak to the launch or if you have to go through a company?

Hello, I follow your channel from last year. Since before the pandemic I dreamed of buying a kayak but my budget is extrimely tight. I found a fiberglass one, are those good?

I kayak’d Antelope Canyon last fall…an unforgettable trip. It looks beautiful in this vid but it’s even more breathtaking in person. Also did Lone Rock Canyon which was less crowded and very beautiful.

  36. beeveedee on July 21, 2021 at 9:41 pm

I’m looking at an Axis 10.5. I noticed as you paddled that the kayak looked like it rocks back and forth. I’m wondering if I would like that… What model was that other Dagger in the close up shot at 1:50, the teal/magenta one?

  37. malia386 on July 21, 2021 at 9:45 pm

Would you recommend doing this paddle on a SUP? I have been planning on going out there but we have paddle boards.
