is cast net fishing legal in freshwater and saltwater?

Is it legal to use cast nets to catch fish in freshwater and saltwater in Florida? I did not know. I know it is legal to catch some species in salt water but was curious about the legality of using a cast net in freshwater and also what was the size limit of the length of a castnet and also its mesh size. I went online to http://myfwc.com/fishing/freshwater/regulations/taking-fish/

and https://www.floridagofishing.com/info-fishing-regulations.html

to help get some answers.
My findings are current as of today, November 19, 2018, but to be safe you want to check out the sites to make sure the rules have not changed in the future.
If any rules about cast nets in Florida do change please leave a comment and a link in the comment section so we can all be updated and legal.

The cast net is the preferred method of fishing here.

So the rules don’t necessarily say anything about targeting gamefish species… just about harvesting them with the cast net. So… if you did cast net catch and release is the area gray enough to get around? Hahaha I love loopholes… I can’t help it.

If you think I am taking too long you probably don’t know there is a wheel icon on the bottom right of the video you can click on and speed up the video by quite a bit, or even slow it down. I don’t use a script when I narrate, I just talk off the top of my head in one take so sometimes my videos are longer than they should be. Hope the speed adjustment helps you.
