Fly Fishing the Salt River! (Day 10)

For day 10 of the 30-day challenge, I decided to hit the Lower Salt River in an area we don’t fish very often. The flows were still a little high and I caught a fish on my first cast but, the fishing was still pretty good and I ended up landing quite a few little chunky bass!

Good channel that you have, I’ve probably watched every video. One question, what flies were you using? I don’t seem to have the same luck that you do at the salt, Im probably using the wrong flies.

Where there are small fish there are big fish! I used to catch good sized bass on size 8 olive colored wooley buggers near Pon D Sutton along the Reservation side of the river near where the Verde river flows in. I had the pleasure of meeting legendary outdoor writer and flyfisherman Charlie Meck there many years ago. You just never know who you may meet on the water. Plan on being back in Az for the winter soon! Thanks for sharing a beautiful sunny Arizona day!

Just came across your channel! Fished the salt river a couple of days ago and landed about 8 decent bass! It was my first time fishing plastics and I’m hooked lol! Maybe fly fishing will be the next thing I figure out after I get the hang of artificials 😁
