Fly Fishing for Trout on the Salt River!

Fly Fishing for Trout on the Salt River!

Every fall AZGFD starts there yearly stocking of Rainbow Trout into the Lower Salt River here in Arizona. This is a great time of year because you don’t have to drive hours from the valley to fish for trout. Since they stocked it last Thursday I thought today would be the perfect day to get out there and try to catch a few.

Awesome video! Those are some big trout for the lower Salt. I rarely catch the trout there unless I hit it the day after it was stocked.

trout unlike salmon do not die after breeding, the hatcheries often stock old brood trout once they figure the’re best years are past them. That huge trout might have been one of those.
