Fall Grouse Hunting up North!

***** Follow Me on Instagram @danelajoy *****

In this video we head up into Northern Ontario to camp and hunt on Crown land. This trip was not as productive as we had hoped due to high winds and rain but nonetheless, still fun and produced some birds! Next year we should have machines and hopefully better weather! Please subscribe and thumbs up! Cheers!

Ok some of these people don’t know the rules and are saying that I do illegal thing’s which makes me annoyed I’m from kenora Ontario and I hung from an atv with a .22 also rarely a shotgun I hunt for meat because they taste good and my dad and I hunt by atv and shoot off the ground or trees because I like to get as much meat as possible and if u shoot them flying that might waste meat a so I don’t get why all these people like to shoot from the air and think that those who don’t are unsportsmanlike or lazy when we just like to hunt for meat and not just for fun I think prefer the way that you and I hunt over "flushing them"

  3. John Immenschuh on November 19, 2020 at 8:51 pm

Why are you swinging the bird when you pick it up?

  4. lusl1094 on November 19, 2020 at 8:51 pm

Were I live if you get caught road hunting you will probably get a fine plus your gun being taken even maybe your truck and if you are lucky the warden might just have a bicycle he may loan you so you will have a way too court just remember don’t road hunt

  9. Cody Buckli on November 19, 2020 at 8:55 pm

shooting grouse off the ground or perched in a tree is very unsportsmanlike.

Many people will criticize. The truth is there are many ways to do it and if it’s legal then have fun. I grew up in Northern Ontario hunting grouse with my Grandfather’s old Ranger .22 bolt action rifle. I’d go for head shots and it was very challenging. Also it taught me a lot about still hunting in general and being aware of my surroundings. I have hunted with dogs most of my life, at first with black labs (flushers) and now with pointers. I love the partnership I have with the dogs and to me given the choice of taking my dogs or my gun, I’d choose my dogs every time, That’s just me though. I know a lot of guys who just like to get out there and enjoy the surroundings and pot some grouse for the table like you guys do. They will shoot the birds on the ground and in trees and there is nothing wrong with that. I have a very good friend of mine who I have been hunting with for around 25 years now. I remember when he first came up to my cabin and I let a grouse go that was in a tree. He said, "Why didn’t you shoot it?" He was confused at my actions. lol I love wing shooting and that’s me but I also understand the other point of view. I also hunt them with my recurve (wing shooting mostly believe it or not). The thing is you guys are out there enjoying yourselves and as long as you treat the area and the birds you are hunting with respect and clean up after yourselves, you’d be welcome at my fire any time. Cheers and keep having fun! Jeff

It’s actually illegal to hunt anywhere near a public road, and if your a hunter that does this, you are the type of hunter that gives us a bad name.

  13. Jacob Westenberger on November 19, 2020 at 8:59 pm

  14. Kaydan O’Farrell on November 19, 2020 at 9:00 pm

Great video that’s how we hunt birds to the ppl who are bashing for hunting out of a truck it’s legal in Ontario and are you up the west branch?

  15. Charles Destro on November 19, 2020 at 9:01 pm

Don’t know what made me watch this right now. But this is the most unorthodox and unproductive hunting I have ever witnessed. No dogs…riding in the truck. What kind of hunting is that. These are a docile version up in Ontario. Never see birds sitting like that crazy.

  17. Nomad Outdoors Tv on November 19, 2020 at 9:05 pm

I prefer to work for my birds, I feel it is more respectful to the birds whether walking or with a dog. I just don’t see the sport in road hunting.

  18. p trus on November 19, 2020 at 9:08 pm

Most of those are illegally harvested birds. You’re not supposed to shoot from the road, across the road or down the road. Check the regulations

  19. Justin Hales on November 19, 2020 at 9:10 pm

Wow what a couple of jokes. Don’t work to hard for those birds. Disgraceful

Can someone please explain how this method of hunting is legal (spotting a grouse in your vehicle, getting out and shooting it)?

    From MNRF 2019 regulations:
    "Aircraft, including drones and balloons,
may not be used while hunting. Vehicles (includes any kind of vehicle that is driven, propelled or drawn on land or ice by any kind of power, including muscular power, and includes snowmobiles, boats and the rolling stock of a railway) may not be used for chasing, pursuing, harassing, capturing, injuring or killing any wildlife."
    https://files.ontario.ca/mnrf-2019-hunting-regulations-en-04-0-2019.pdf

From Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997:
"Vehicles, boats and aircraft, use for hunting, etc.
    Vehicles
24 (1) A person shall not use a vehicle for the purpose of killing, injuring, capturing, harassing, pursuing or chasing wildlife."

  38. SPIKES and GILLS on November 19, 2020 at 9:36 pm

Definitely must be in Canada or somewhere that allows spruce grouse to be shot. Can’t shoot spruce grouse in Maine. Our grouse numbers were low this past year. I didn’t go grouse hunting this past season but maybe next.
