Camping and Boating at Fort De Soto Park

In this video Jason and I went camping to Fort De Soto park which is right next door to Shell Key. I was very fortunate to get a spot with a water front which was really nice. We even made a new friend, a friendly camping neighbor that spent some time with us. It was also really hot that day and by the time I was done filming I was exhausted.

Hey Erick, nice video. I always enjoy the beauty of Fort De Soto. It is one of my favorite places to go fishing (from the Gulf pier). When I lived in New Port Richey, I used to go there quite frequently, maybe 3-4 times per month. In April 2019, I moved farther north to Weeki Wachee. Since then, I may have been there 2 times. I really miss going to Fort De Soto, it is such a great place. One of these days I will take my inflatable Saturn SD-365 there and use it as a platform for fishing around some of those bridge piles.

I love your videos. I live in Tallahassee and do a lot of camping. I have a Sea Eagle Explorer 420x but I’m going to add an inflatable boat so me and my family have more room.

Hi Erick, really enjoy seeing the enthusiasm and love for inflatable boats you show in your videos!

I have a question – I recently purchased a Saturn inflatable 9.6 ft (model SD290) and put a Mercury 9.9 hp four stroke on it. Do you think I should be able to get the boat on plane with 4 people (maximum allowed)? What do you recommend I trim the motor to? I had some porpoising with 2 people the first time I tried it when I gave it some speed, but that was without trimming the motor at all
